Benefits of Window Film

Privacy

Privacy films can be needed for numerous reasons including keeping valuable goods out of sight and stopping prying eyes. There are a range of privacy films that allow clear glass to be transformed into one way vision panes under the correct lighting conditions or, if necessary, they can be totally obscured. Privacy films come in a vast range of colours and designs with various levels of privacy. Most one-way films can be combined with a safety and security film for additional security for your valuable goods.

Solar Control

Compared to heating a building it approximately takes 3 times more energy to cool it! Solar energy and glare enter your building through the glass windows as radiated heat, light and glare. This can make everyday tasks very uncomfortable. Installing film to the existing windows is by far the most cost-effective way to reduce incoming temperature and glare. Solar window films can reduce the percentage of the solar heat that enters the building by up to 91% and the percentage of solar glare by up to 96% whilst still allowing light to pass through. This could greatly reduce the running costs of an air conditioning system or even eliminate the need to have one installed. Health & Safety and Display Screen Equipment Regulations make it the employer’s responsibility to provide a comfortable working environment for their staff. High temperatures and solar glare can cause eye strain, headaches, fatigue and other health issues all of which can be resolved by installing a solar control film. A better working environment results in better productivity and attendance.

UV Protection

UV reducing films are designed to reduce Ultraviolet light by at least 99%. Items that are exposed to direct sunlight are at high risk of discolouring and fading over a period of time. 90% of the causes of fading are made up of UV light, heat, and visible light. Over 80% of these issues can be eliminated by installing a UV film. UV protection films are ideally suited to museums, shop fronts, conservatories and homes. Not only to reduce fading but also to reduce the health risks involved with harmful UV rays. UV films can be combined with solar films to offer even more benefits or can be installed as an ultra-clear film so that it is virtually undetectable once installed.

Insulation

One side of the building can be suffering from high amounts of solar heat gains the opposite side of the building can be suffering from heat loss. Low E coated insulation films can offer the benefits of solar control films by reducing incoming solar heat and glare in the summer, whilst also reducing the heat loss through glass in the winter by up to 30%. Conservatories and largely glassed areas suffer for high amounts of solar heat gains in the summer and in the winter, these areas suffer from extreme heat loss. This results in the areas being virtually unusable most of the year. Having a Low E Solar control film installed will reduce high heat levels that are caused during the summer months and will insulate the area during the winter months. This will make the room far more usable all year round. Film can be applied to glass and polycarbonate. These films have a reflective finish and can range from being very dark to give a level of privacy to very light and virtually undetectable once installed.

Ascetics

Many buildings can be transformed into striking examples of attractive architecture with the application of a tinted or reflective decorative window film. The extensive range of decorative films can offer a huge variety of finishes on glass, offering almost unlimited decorative design ideas. As well as a range of etched and frosted films there are numerous patterned, coloured, opaque, translucent & transparent films.

Anti-Graffiti

Anti-graffiti window films have been specifically designed for protecting glass and other flat surfaces against accidental or deliberate damage. When the glass is damaged it can be very expensive and time consuming to replace. The use of anti-graffiti film will reduce the need for replacement glass, not only saving you huge amounts of money but will also be saving you the time involved in ordering and fitting the new glass. Anti-graffiti film can easily be installed onto your new or existing glazing and if damaged can easily be removed and replaced. Returning your glazing to the same condition as the day the film was installed. A scratch-resistant coating provides added protection against light surface scratching, as well as against certain inks or paints that can be wiped away using a alcohol solution without the fear of damaging the film. A considerable advantage of these films is that, even if tags resist all attempts at removal or scratches are too deep, the whole film can be removed and replaced without the need for further costs.
These films are certified M1 fire-resistant, able to withstand considerable exposure to flames and will hold shattered glass securely in place in case of impact.

Safety & Security

Safety and security films are designed and tested to hold glass in place in the event of an impact weather it is accidental or intentional, severe weather or even a bomb blast. The glass may crack or shatter but will still be held together by the film. These films can deter opportunist thieves, protect property, prevent injury and even save lives in the event of an explosion. These also greatly reduce the time and expense of cleaning up after a window breakage. These films can be combined with solar films to offer even more benefits or can be installed as an ultra-clear film so that it is virtually undetectable once installed. They come in a range of thickness to suit your needs and meets all of the British and European standards for impact testing including but not limited to BS 6206, EN 12600 and EN 356. Safety films can be used in any location and fully comply with the workplace health, safety and welfare regulations act to bring existing glass up to British standard EN 12600 (2B2) without the need of replacing the existing glazing at a fraction of the cost
